Writing the Narration Script

This was the first rough draft I made of the script. I didn't align it to the visual aspects yet to see if it would match or fit within the time constraints, but it's an overall view on how I want to characterize the main character through her relationship with her best friend and her interpretation of the dream.

Every day I have the same dream of the same girl.

Some days its on the beach like that dream, other days were skating together. It feels real sometimes, but it’s probably my brain’s way of making me feel less lonely.

Not that I have no friends, my best friend Mia and I have been attached since 1st grade when she yelled at a bunch of kids for laughing at me after I fell off the monkey bars.

Not my proudest moment since I fell in front of my crush, Amber Adler, but that seems to be my luck with love.

Mia comforts me that I’ll find my person someday, but she has a new person every week, so I don’t know if I trust her love advice.

*Honk*, oh shit speaking of. Mia’s left me behind before and I’m not athletically inclined enough to walk those 2 miles again.

I started speaking the script over the visual playing and made revisions to the script to make it fit within the timeline of the clips (like the honking of the horn, pauses in narration).

That’s me, Lucia Batista Diaz,

but Lucy for short,

waking up from the same dream

I have every night of the same girl.

Sometimes we’re holding hands on the beach,

other times were cuddling watching a movie.

Either way, it feels real sometimes,

but it’s probably my brain’s way of making me feel less lonely.

Not that I have no friends or anything though,

like my best friend Mia and I have been attached since 1st grade.

I swear I’m not really this lame,

but we became friends after she yelled

at some kids making fun of me for falling

off the monkey bars in 1st grade.

Did I embarrass myself in front of my first-grade

crush, Amber Adler, at the time, yes,

but I also gained one of my best friends because of it.

And Amber moved to Michigan a year later,

so Lucy 1, Universe 0.

Mia always tells me I’ll find my girl someday,

but she’s with a new person every week,

so I don’t know if I trust her love advice.

*Honk*, oh shit speaking of,

that sounds like Mia’s horn.... and-

oh shit she’s out front.

Mia’s left me behind before

and I’m not athletically inclined enough

to walk those 2 miles again,

so I have to hurry myself out the door immediately.

This script gives us the main character's name finally since that was missing from the story originally and it gives us insight into the fact that this main character has a small circle of friends and is the lovable loser type, which is how I want her to come off.
