Second Day Shooting

Going into the second day of filming, I was coming straight from a five hour ball person training session in Miami, so I was really tired and wanted to get filming over with as quickly as possible.

Maddie was very accomodating to this (and the bad attitude I had that afternoon from exhaustion) and picked up very quickly on what I wanted to accomplish for each shot.

Filming went pretty smooth for the first few shots, until the getting ready montage in the bathroom. I should've kept the camera in one spot for continuinty for one take and for another take I should've done the experimental camera angles.

In hindsight, I messed up and should've given myself the options, but now I only have the experimental angles that don't have a lot of continuinty across edits. I also filmed most of the shots through the reflection of the mirror, so sometimes my hand comes into view. I have to either crop the shot or trim out the shots where my hand or any part of me is visible, which limits my shot selection even more.

The shots following the montage went smoothly, until we had to film in the car.

I wanted a two shot of the characters from the view of the car dash, but when I set the camera up to acomplish this, I couldn't see what the camera is on because of the tint in my window.

When I was about to leave to go home, I luckily looked at the footage for that shot and saw there was a horrible glare in the shot, so I got us to reshoot it. This time, I set the camera up in a better spot with no glare and moved the seats in my car back so we could both be in frame. The only problem with this shot was where I was looking. In the two shot, I was looking towards Maddie, but in the shot immediately afterwards, I'm looking down at my phone.

For future projects, I think shot continuity is an important thing for me to focus on and thinking about what the shot before and after the one I'm shooting starts and ends like.
