I honestly don't remember much of this film at all, so rewatching the first 2 minutes of this film. Watching this was different than the other films I researched already since I didn't have a previous opinion on the film.
Establishing, POV through phone lens (handheld), tracking master shot, POV through phone lens tracking), two shot POV, tracking mid shot, mid shot, POV through phone lens (handheld), master shot tilt up, POV through phone hand-held, three shot tracking, tracking over the shoulder, over the shoulder two shot, over the shoulder tilt, over the shoulder two shot, over the shoulder, establishing shot, three shot, wide action shot, three shot pan, over the shoulder pan to mid shot, pan mid shot, three shot, extreme close up, extreme close up birds eye, close up, close up, long shot, close up tracking (of dog), close up tracking (of putting on shoe), long shot (jump cut) long shot, close up, POV, long shot tracking, close up, POV, close up, axial cut, long shot, mid shot pan, mid shot, mid shot, mid shot, mid shot.
This is another film that uses shorter takes, except for when they switch to showing through the phone lens. The beginning of this film feels similar to the beginning of The Kissing Booth, but it's accomplished in a better way in my opinion. They switch between a phone lens (which is signified by a grainier visual) and a normal perspective to give it a vlog-ish feeling.
The setup to this film also doesn't immediately ostracize him, but creates a sense of normalcy to his character, even if this is destroyed later on in the two minutes. It does kind of present homosexuality in a way that makes it feel wrong with him peering through the window at the guy and him trying to cover up for it when his Dad comes in, but this can be relatable for the LGBTQ+ community in some ways. It could also easily be argued that many families are more accepting of this now and there should be less movies where being queer is taboo as the main plotline shouldn't be the normal, but to each their own.
Overall, I think the beginning of this movie isn't anything special. I like the use of vlogging to introduce the characters and it presents the family as very close to each other as a result. Other than that, personally in my film, I want to stray away from presenting being queer as taboo and not make it my entire focus of the film. I want it to be natural and normal because being queer is natural and normal.
